Weights, measures and portion sizes for foods
The booklet «Weights, measures and portion sizes for foods» contains data on weights, measures and portion sizes for 700 foods and dishes. The booklet is published by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, University of Oslo and the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
The booklet is written both in Norwegian and English.
The project work is based on the review of existing data from various sources, weighing of foods and gathering of information from producers and shops. In addition, data was gathered about portion sizes from the national nutritional survey Norkost 3, cookbooks and other sources. Some of the foods in the booklet have weight yield factors that can be used to estimate how much the weight of a food item changes during preparation.
